on march 25th 2017, we were invited to participate in the recorking of the 1983 vintage of the Bovard Estate in Epesses, Switzerland.
This was a first at the estate. The wines from Lavaux were not known for their aging capacity. The Bovard family starting with the grandfather Louis, followed by his son Antoine had another opinion. They started holding them as early as the 1970's. Now Denis is facing the delicate task of recorking some of these early vintages.
This is a small winery and all these activities are made manually. So Denis Bovard invited a bunch of friends to help im in the process which is very interesting. Speed and accurate tastebuds are essential for a successful recorking procedure.
